🌙 The Blessings of the Month of Ramadan 🌙

A month like no other — take advantage of every blessing

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

A Blessed Month for Many Reasons

The month of Ramadan is a blessed month for many reasons, so we must be sure to take advantage of all of its blessings. Allah has opened the gates of His mercy, chained the devils, and multiplied the rewards for every good deed. Let us explore the great virtues of this magnificent month.

1

📖 The Month the Qur'an Was Revealed

"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights the month, let him fast it."

Surah Al-Baqarah · 2:185

Allah intends ease for us and not hardship. He revealed His greatest gift — the Noble Qur'an — in this blessed month as a guidance and mercy for all of mankind.

2

🚪 The Gates of Heaven Are Opened

"When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained."

Sahih Bukhari 1800 · Grade: Sahih

During Ramadan, Satan finds it more difficult to mislead the Muslims, so it becomes easier for us to perform good deeds. This is the perfect time to build lasting habits of worship.

3

🤲 Forgiveness of All Previous Sins

Muslims can receive forgiveness for their sins through sincere prayers and fasting. The Prophet ﷺ gave us three powerful promises:

Through Fasting:

"Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, then Allah will forgive all of his previous sins."

Sahih Muslim 760

Through Night Prayer:

"Whoever stands in the night prayer during Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, then all of his previous sins will be forgiven."

Sahih Muslim 759

Through the Five Prayers:

"The five prayers, Friday to Friday, and Ramadan to Ramadan will be expiation for the sins between them, so long as major sins are avoided."

Musnad Ahmad 8944

⭐ The Magnified Virtue of Fasting

— Allah says in Hadith Qudsi —

"All the deeds of the children of Adam are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it."

Fasting is a shield. The Prophet ﷺ said: "If one of you is fasting, he should avoid intimate relations and arguments. If someone should fight with him, he should say: I am fasting."

"By Him in whose hand is my soul, the unpleasant smell from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk."

"There are two pleasures for the fasting person — one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other when he meets his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting." — Sahih Bukhari 1805

5

🌟 The Night of Decree (Laylatul Qadr)

"Verily, We sent the Quran down during the Night of Decree. What will make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months."

Surah Al-Qadr · 97:1-3

The Prophet ﷺ also warned: "Allah has made a night during Ramadan that is better than a thousand months, so whoever is deprived of it is truly deprived." — Musnad Ahmad 7108

The exact date is unknown, but it occurs in the last ten nights of Ramadan. Aisha (RA) reported: "The Prophet ﷺ would exert himself in worship during the last ten nights more than at any other time." — Sahih Muslim 1175

6

🕌 The Sunnah of I'tikaf (Mosque Retreat)

Aisha (RA) reported: "The Prophet ﷺ used to retreat in the mosque during the last ten nights of Ramadan until Allah the Exalted took him. His wives continued to observe this practice after him." — Sahih Muslim 1172

Imam Ash-Shafi'ee said: "Whoever desires to follow the example of the Prophet ﷺ should seek seclusion in the mosque during the last ten nights — entering before the setting of the sun on the twenty-first night."

7

💚 Increase All Good Deeds & Generosity

Overall, Muslims must greatly increase their acts of worship during Ramadan — reciting the Qur'an, performing prayers, and giving in charity. An-Nawawi said:

"Being generous and performing favors are highly recommended during Ramadan, specifically during the last ten nights. This month is honoured and good works carried out in it are more blessed than they are at any other time."

— An-Nawawi, Al-Majmu 501
