Prophet Idris (Enoch) ุนู„ูŠู‡ ุงู„ุณู„ุงู…

The Prophet of Truth โ€” Raised to a High Station by Allah

"Mention in the Book (Quran) Idris. Verily! He was a man of truth, and a Prophet. And We raised him to a high station."

โ€” Surah Maryam 19:56-57

๐ŸŒฟ Birth and Early Life

Prophet Idris (AS) โ€” known in other traditions as Enoch โ€” was born and raised in Babylon. He was the fifth generation descended from Prophet Adam (AS) and followed the teachings and religion of his forefathers Adam (AS) and his son Seth (AS). He was the first of the Children of Adam to receive prophethood after Adam and Seth, peace be upon them all.

He called the people of Babylon back to the pure religion of their forefathers โ€” the worship of Allah alone. But as is the pattern of many nations throughout history, only a few accepted his call while the majority turned away.

Prophet Idris (AS) and his small group of followers eventually left Babylon for Egypt. There he continued his mission โ€” calling people to what is just and fair, teaching them prayers, instructing them to fast on certain days, and urging them to give a portion of their wealth to those in need.

โ˜๏ธ Raised to a High Station

Allah honoured Idris (AS) with a distinction shared by very few โ€” He raised him to a high station. The Quran mentions this honour directly, and Islamic tradition records that during the Prophet Muhammad's ๏ทบ miraculous night journey of Isra and Mi'raj, he met Idris (AS) in the fourth heaven.

The exact nature of this elevation is known fully to Allah alone. What is clear is that Allah praised him directly in the Quran โ€” calling him a man of truth and a prophet, and announcing that He raised him to a high station. For a servant of Allah, this is an honour beyond description.

โœ๏ธ The First to Write

It is reported that Prophet Idris (AS) was the first person to invent the basic form of writing โ€” a gift to humanity that has allowed knowledge, revelation, and wisdom to be preserved and passed down through every generation since. Every book ever written, every page of the Quran that has been recorded, owes something to this early gift that Allah placed through His prophet.

This single contribution alone speaks to the immense blessing his prophethood brought to all of humanity โ€” not just the people of his time.

๐Ÿ’š The Wise Sayings of Prophet Idris (AS)

Among the most precious things preserved from the legacy of Idris (AS) are his wise sayings โ€” timeless reminders that speak as clearly today as they did centuries ago:

"Happy is he who looks at his own deeds and appoints them as pleaders to his Lord."

"None can show better gratitude for Allah's favours than he who shares them with others."

"Do not envy people for what they have โ€” they will only enjoy it for a short while."

"He who indulges in excess will not benefit from it."

"The real joy of life is to have wisdom."

May Allah grant us the wisdom of Idris (AS) โ€” to reflect on our deeds, share our blessings, avoid envy and excess, and find our true joy in the knowledge of Allah and His religion.
