Aisha bint Abi Bakr رضي الله عنها

As-Siddiqa — The Most Beloved Wife of the Prophet ﷺ — Scholar of Islam

"Learn some of your deen from this red-haired lady."

— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, referring to Aisha (RA)

🌿 The Daughter of Abu Bakr

Aisha (RA) was the daughter of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (RA) — the Prophet's closest companion and the first man to embrace Islam. The Prophet ﷺ was told in a dream by Jibreel (AS), who showed him her image on green silk saying: "She is your wife in this world and in the next world."

She was a spirited and playful young girl whose friends would visit her in her room even after her marriage. The Prophet ﷺ — far from discouraging this — would go out and bring her friends back, pleased for her sake to have their company. He joined their games, smiled at their laughter, and showed a gentleness and warmth that Aisha (RA) remembered and narrated with great love.

She had a clear heart, a quick mind, and an accurate memory. As she grew older and witnessed the unfolding of revelation, of battles and of the early Muslim community, she recorded and preserved everything. She became one of the greatest scholars Islam has ever known.

📖 Scholar and Preserver of the Sunnah

Aisha (RA) is one of only four people who narrated more than two thousand hadiths. She memorised the entire Quran by heart and understood it deeply. When asked to describe the Prophet ﷺ, she replied that he was "the Quran walking" — meaning his conduct was the Quran translated into action. She embodied the same.

One of her contemporaries said that if the knowledge of Aisha were placed on one side of the scales and the knowledge of all other women on the other, Aisha's side would outweigh the other. Abu Musa (RA) said: "Whenever a report appeared doubtful to us, we asked Aisha about it, and we always learned something from her."

She was not afraid to ask the Prophet ﷺ questions to find out the truth, and she was fearless in expressing it. When she was right in debate, the Prophet ﷺ would smile and say: "She is the daughter of Abu Bakr!"

💛

Her Innocence Declared by Allah: When hypocrites spread slander against Aisha (RA) after an expedition, Allah Himself revealed verses from the Quran declaring her innocence — Surah An-Nur 24:11-19. Her mother told her to thank the Prophet ﷺ for the good news. Aisha (RA) replied: "By Allah, I will not thank him but rather Allah, Who has given the revelation that protected my honour!"

🕊️ The Prophet's Final Moments

During his final illness, the Prophet ﷺ inquired repeatedly "Where will I be tomorrow?" — hoping it would be Aisha's turn. His other wives, out of love for both him and her, agreed to forego their turns. For his final days on earth, the Prophet ﷺ lay with his head on Aisha's breast or in her lap, while she recited the last two surahs of the Quran over him and passed his blessed hand over his body.

His last words were: "O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me and join me with the Highest Company." He passed away in her arms. She was eighteen years old. She lived for another fifty years — preserving, teaching and transmitting the knowledge of the Prophet ﷺ to every generation that followed.

May Allah be pleased with Aisha As-Siddiqa — whose knowledge, love and faithfulness preserved the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ for every Muslim who has ever lived since.
