Complete Ramadan Guide
A practical guide to fasting, prayer, the Qur'an, du'a and worship
Ramadan is a month of mercy, worship and spiritual renewal. It is a time to turn our hearts towards Allah, strengthen our relationship with the Qur'an, establish our prayers and develop habits that can continue beyond Ramadan.
📖 The Purpose of Ramadan
Allah سبحانه وتعالى prescribed fasting so that believers may develop taqwa — consciousness and awareness of Allah.
“O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may attain taqwa.”
Qur'an 2:183
Ramadan is therefore more than simply going without food and drink. It is an opportunity to improve our worship, character, patience, gratitude and relationship with Allah.
📚 Ramadan and the Qur'an
Ramadan has a special connection with the Qur'an. Allah tells us that Ramadan is the month in which the Qur'an was revealed as guidance for mankind.
“The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.”
Qur'an 2:185
Try to make the Qur'an part of every day of Ramadan. Your goal does not have to be complicated. Even a small amount read consistently can help establish a lasting habit.
🌙 Fasting with Sincerity
Fasting Ramadan is an act of worship performed for Allah. The Prophet ﷺ taught that fasting Ramadan with sincere faith and hoping for Allah's reward carries great virtue.
The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and hoping for Allah's reward will have his past sins forgiven.
Sahih al-Bukhari 38; Sahih al-Bukhari 1901
Fasting should also affect the way we speak and behave. Ramadan gives us an opportunity to control anger, avoid harmful speech, show patience and become better Muslims.
🕌 Protect Your Salah
Ramadan should strengthen our relationship with salah. Try to protect the five daily prayers and make an effort to pray them on time.
🌅 Fajr
Begin the day with salah and remembrance of Allah.
☀️ Dhuhr & Asr
Keep your worship alive throughout the working day.
🌇 Maghrib
Break your fast and remember Allah with gratitude.
🌙 Isha
Prepare for the night with salah, Qur'an and worship.
🕌 Taraweeh and Night Worship
The nights of Ramadan provide a special opportunity for additional prayer and worship. Taraweeh can help us slow down, listen to the Qur'an and spend more time remembering Allah.
If you cannot attend the masjid every night, do what you are able to do at home. The important thing is to establish sincere and consistent worship.
🤲 Make Du'a
Ramadan is a wonderful time to increase our du'a. Ask Allah for forgiveness, guidance, mercy, good health, beneficial knowledge, a strong family and a heart that remains close to Him.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
“Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Qur'an 2:201
❤️ Give Charity
Ramadan is also a time to think about people who are struggling. Give according to your ability and look for opportunities to help others.
Small acts can make a difference

❤️ Improve Your Character
Ramadan should not only change our daily schedule; it should change our character.

Appreciate the blessings Allah has given you.
