🌅 Everyday Duas

Before Eating

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى بَرَكَةِ اللَّهِ

Bismillahi wa 'alaa barakatillah

"In the name of Allah, and with the blessings of Allah."

After Eating

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

Alhamdulillahil-ladhi at'amanaa wa saqaanaa wa ja'alanaa minal-muslimeen

"All praise is for Allah, who fed us, gave us drink, and made us Muslims."

Before Sleeping

اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

Allahumma bismika amootu wa ahya

"O Allah, in Your name I die and I live."

Waking Up

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Alhamdulillahil-ladhi ahyaanaa ba'da maa amaatanaa wa ilayhin-nushoor

"All praise is for Allah, who gave us life after sleep, and to Him is the resurrection."

Leaving Home

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Bismillahi tawakkaltu 'alallah, laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah.

"In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah. There is no might nor power except with Allah."

Entering Home

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

Bismillaahi walajnaa wa bismillaahi kharajnaa wa 'alaa rabbinaa tawakkalnaa

"In Allah's name we enter, in Allah's name we leave, and upon our Lord we rely."

Travelling

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Subhaan-alladhi sakhkhara lanaa haadhaa wa maa kunnaa lahu muqrineen, wa innaa ilaa rabbinaa lamunqaliboon

"Glory to the One who gave us control over this vehicle—something we could never do ourselves—and to our Lord we shall return."

For Our Parents

رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّعِيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Rabbi-rhamhumaa kamaa rabbayaani sagheeraa

"My Lord, have mercy on my parents, just as they raised me when I was small." — Surah Al-Isra (17:24)

Before Studying

رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Rabbi zidni 'ilmaa

"My Lord, increase me in knowledge." — Surah Taha (20:114)

When Sad or Scared—The Dua of Yunus عليه السلام

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

Laa ilaaha illaa anta, subhaanaka, inni kuntu minaz-zaalimeen.

"There is no god but You. Glory be to You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers." — Surah Al-Anbiya (21:87). The Prophet ﷺ said no Muslim calls on Allah with these words about any matter except that Allah answers him.
