The Last Ten Nights
Make the Most of the Final Nights of Ramadan
🌙 The Most Precious Nights of Ramadan
The last ten nights of Ramadan are a special opportunity to increase our worship, seek Allah's forgiveness and draw closer to Him.
Ramadan is coming to an end, but our worship should not fade. These final nights give us another opportunity to strengthen our relationship with Allah and finish Ramadan with sincerity and determination.
⭐ Don't Slow Down
Sometimes a person begins Ramadan with great enthusiasm but becomes tired as the month progresses. The last ten nights are not the time to give up. They are an opportunity to renew your intention and increase your efforts according to your ability.
📖 The Qur’an and the Last Ten Nights
شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ
“The month of Ramadan is that in which the Qur’an was revealed.”
Qur’an 2:185
The final nights are an excellent time to spend more time with the Qur’an. You can read it, listen to it, reflect upon its meaning and ask Allah to help you live according to its guidance.
⭐ Seek Laylat al-Qadr
Among the greatest blessings of the last ten nights is Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree.
Allah tells us:
لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ
“The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.”
Qur’an 97:3
Because we do not know with certainty which night it will be, make an effort throughout the last ten nights rather than waiting for one particular night.
🕌 What Should We Do During the Last Ten Nights?
🕌 Protect Your Salah
Protect all five obligatory prayers and make every effort to pray them on time.
📖 Increase Qur’an
Read, listen to and reflect upon the Qur’an according to your ability.
🤲 Make Duʿa
Ask Allah for forgiveness, mercy, guidance, protection and goodness.
📿 Remember Allah
Make istighfar, dhikr and other beneficial acts of worship.
🌌 Stand in Prayer at Night
The last ten nights are an opportunity to increase your night prayer. Taraweeh and Qiyam can help you spend more of the night remembering Allah and listening to His words.
“Whoever establishes prayer during the nights of Ramadan with faith and in the hope of reward will have his past sins forgiven.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari
You do not have to stay awake all night. Pray according to your ability and make sure that extra worship does not cause you to miss an obligatory prayer, especially Fajr.
🤲 The Duʿa of Laylat al-Qadr
ʿAishah (RA) asked the Prophet ﷺ what she should say if she found Laylat al-Qadr. He taught her:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka ʿafuwwun tuḥibbul-ʿafwa faʿfu ʿannī.
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”
❤️ Return to Allah
The last ten nights are a wonderful opportunity to make sincere Tawbah. Think about your mistakes, ask Allah for forgiveness and make a sincere intention to improve.
Do not allow past mistakes to make you lose hope in Allah's mercy. Turn to Him sincerely and ask Him to guide you towards what is pleasing to Him.
❤️ Remember Charity and Kindness
Worship is not limited to prayer and Qur’an. The last ten nights are also a time to be generous, help those in need, feed others and show kindness.
Give according to your means and seek Allah's pleasure rather than praise from people.
👨👩👧 Encourage Your Family
If you have a family, encourage one another during these special nights. Children can participate according to their age and ability.
Keep the atmosphere positive. The purpose is to help one another remember Allah rather than making worship feel like a burden.
🌙 Simple Beginner Plan
If you are new to increasing your worship during the last ten nights, start with a simple routine:
- Protect the five daily prayers.
- Pray ʿIsha and Taraweeh according to your ability.
- Read some Qur’an or listen to it with attention.
- Make sincere duʿa and repeat the Laylat al-Qadr duʿa.
- Make istighfar and dhikr.
- If you are awake before Fajr, use some of that quiet time for prayer, Qur’an and duʿa.
Start small. Be sincere. Keep going.
🌙 A Simple Nightly Routine
Before Maghrib: Make your intention and ask Allah to help you make the night beneficial.
After Maghrib: Make duʿa and spend some time with the Qur’an.
After ʿIsha: Pray Taraweeh and listen attentively to the Qur’an.
During the night: Make dhikr, read Qur’an, seek forgiveness and make personal duʿa.
Before Fajr: If you are awake, use the quiet time for prayer and sincere duʿa while protecting the Fajr prayer.
