Make Up Missed Ramadan Fasts

Complete what you owe before the blessed month of Ramadan arrives.

🌿 Shaʿban Is a Time to Prepare

Shaʿban is not only a month for increasing voluntary worship. It is also an opportunity to prepare ourselves for Ramadan by completing anything that remains outstanding from the previous Ramadan.

If you have missed obligatory fasts because of illness, travel, menstruation, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or another valid reason, Shaʿban is a good time to review what you owe and make a plan to complete those fasts.

📖 Aisha (RA) and Missed Fasts

ʿAishah (RA) said that she would have missed fasts from Ramadan and would not be able to make them up except in Shaʿban because of her duties with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. This narration is recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari.

🤲 Fulfil What Is Owed

Obligatory acts should be given priority. Before filling our days with additional voluntary fasting, we should make sure that any missed Ramadan fasts are being dealt with.

```
1️⃣ Count
Work out how many obligatory fasts you still need to make up.
2️⃣ Plan
Choose suitable days in Shaʿban and make a realistic schedule.
3️⃣ Complete
Try your best to finish the outstanding fasts before the next Ramadan.
```

🌙 Make Ramadan Easier

Preparing early can bring peace to the heart. Instead of entering Ramadan worrying about unfinished obligations, use Shaʿban to put your affairs in order and enter Ramadan with a clearer mind and a stronger intention.

✨ A Simple Shaʿban Plan

✔️ Count your missed Ramadan fasts.

✔️ Make a realistic schedule.

✔️ Begin making them up.

✔️ Increase your Qur'an and dhikr.

✔️ Ask Allah ﷻ for help and forgiveness.

✔️ Prepare your heart for Ramadan.

💚 A Reminder

We should not allow preparation for Ramadan to become overwhelming. Begin with what is obligatory, continue according to your ability, and ask Allah ﷻ to make your worship easy and sincere.

Every day of Shaʿban is another opportunity to prepare. Do not wait until the last few days. Start today, even if your first step is simply making a plan.

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنَّا عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ وَتَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا

O Allah, help us to worship You and accept our deeds from us.

🌙 Prepare in Shaʿban • Welcome Ramadan with a prepared heart

May Allah ﷻ allow us to reach Ramadan and accept our fasting, prayers and good deeds. Ameen.
